Teamworks: Manager of the Quarter / Team Members of the Month MANAGER OF THE QUARTER FALL › ANNE-MARIE MENNEN When Anne-Marie Mennen took over as Sports Café Manager in April 2010, members were immediately impressed by her ability to continue the improvement in the quality of service at the popular 8th Floor hangout. Team members, meanwhile, appreciate Anne-Marie's friendly personality, which rubs off on those who work for her. She introduced new daily specials, including those named for Café team members, and epitomizes the Club's service-oriented focus. "Anne-Marie is positive, creative, has a can-do WINTER › JOEY WICKHAM Restaurant Manager Joey Wickham helps oversee Torchy's and Hagerty's. She moved to the 2nd Floor after starting her WAC career as Assistant Manager in the Sports Café. Joey's co-workers call her helpful, respectful, patient and effective. "Joey genuinely cares about the membership and offering them the highest level of service," Restaurant Operations Manager Danielle Crowson says. "She consistently seeks to make service run TEAM MEMBER OF THE MONTH JULY › CATALINA ASUNCION › WOMEN'S FITNESS Catalina Asuncion joined the WAC team in May of 1991. Since then, she's become a go-to person for special projects and has established herself as outstanding and dependable. "Without a doubt, Catalina has been one of the key team members in Athletics," Fitness Manager Megan Usui says. Catalina also works as a senior account specialist at Harborview Medical Center. "She brings her accounting hawk eye to the Fitness Department," Megan says. "She's highly invested in the financial success of the conditioning departments, locker rooms and personal training." AUGUST › PAUL HUDSON › RECEIVING Paul Hudson will mark 20 years with the WAC this June. His duties include making sure the Club doesn't run out of anything it needs. "As the Food & Beverage buyer, Paul does such a good job of keeping the WAC supplied with everything it takes to keep our wonderful restaurants and bars operating smoothly," 20 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | MAY / JUNE 2012 Receiving Supervisor Tony Sundberg says. That often means working early morning hours. Co-worker Patty Smith calls Paul "essential to our Food & Beverage operation" and says he handles rush orders with "a quiet calm." attitude, and is very supportive and appreciative of the staff," says Fitness Manager Megan Usui. "Her willingness to try new things that appeal to members reflects her sincere interest in the success of the Sports Café." Known by many people as "Bumper," a childhood nickname that stuck, Anne-Marie is a service-oriented role model, according to Vice President Food & Beverage Robert Bonina. "Her friendliness, team-building skills and dedication to the WAC's values are just a few of the reasons she's deserving of this honor," he says. as smooth as possible." Joey strives to keep servers, dishwashers and all others on the same page and works hard to meet ever-changing scheduling demands. She played a key role in helping with a smooth transition for the newest restaurant manager. "Joey has made a difference in her assignment at the Club, and we're glad to have her," says Vice President Food & Beverage Robert Bonina.
