sedona valentine (2006) A lu m n i S p o t l i g h t 38 Following her graduation from Linfield, Sedona a ended Pepperdine University in Malibu and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Pre-Medi- cine studies. While in college, she volun- teered and taught math and science to kids in Compton; she was also a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and spent a year living and studying abroad in Buenos Aires. After Pepperdine, Sedona headed to Ohio State University's College of Medicine; while there, she volunteered with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, got a job tutoring inner city children, and graduated with her MD! She is currently completing a residency training in Family Medicine through Wright State University (also in Ohio), and she is excited because Family Medicine gives her the chance to help patients from all phases of life and allows her to work in obstetric care. Some of Sedona's closest friends are still her friends from high school, so she can't wait to move back home to Southern California. She is currently engaged with plans to get married next summer, and she hopes to get a job at Kaiser. Sedona was a varsity basketball and track athlete, vice-president of her senior class, and student of the year in 2006, and she had diffi- culty choosing a favorite Linfield memory simply because she says, "There are so many!" One story that stood out, however, revolved around their senior prank. She remembers, "So many people from my class came together to help, which is why I think the memory is so special to me. Among many other silly things, our senior prank included moving Mr. Turner's truck above the stairs that now lead to the middle school quad, zip-tying as many lockers as possible, pu ing up 'Free Child Labor' signs at the front of the school, and moving desks from the class- rooms to the middle of the football field."
