CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE SUMMER 2012 Shop, Simmer, Savor 7 A short walk from the WAC, the bustling Pike Place Market draws visitors from around the world to dodge flying fish and drool over Northwest produce. Yet many locals never go. "I have friends who have gone to the market maybe once," Vanessa Volkman says with astonishment. A serious foodie and director of Blue Ribbon Cooking school, Vanessa is thrilled to share her passion for this "amazing resource." During Shop, Simmer, Savor, set for June 10, members will shop the market with a chef and choose a menu inspired by what looks best that day. You'll also learn the techniques for selecting the freshest ingredients— and sample olive oils, pesto and wine—before a hands-on cooking class at Blue Ribbon Cooking school, which feels like a French country home that just happens to have windows opening onto Eastlake. If you want more information about what's going on this summer, turn to Planning Details below. If you'd rather start from the beginning, turn to 1 Breeze inn 8 If summer in Seattle is an ocean of fun, the Inn at the WAC is the perfect beach. Starting with its ideal location—an easy walk to shopping, theaters, museums, ferries and Pike Place Market; a light rail hop to the stadiums; and a Monorail ride to Seattle Center—and continuing with top-drawer service in a four-star setting and unbeatable prices, the Inn is just the ticket for out-of-town guests and nonresident members looking to experience the best of Seattle. It's also a great way for city residents to experience downtown more intimately. Plus, the concierge can help you plan anything you'd like to do, or connect you with tickets if you missed getting them through Club Programs. For many guests, waking up at the Inn is half the fun of being downtown. The adventure continues below and all summer long.
