CLUB PROGRAMS 206.464.3060 • clubprograms@wac.net ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT Haunted Pub Crawl Thursday, October 25 Encounter spirits of all sorts on this Spooked In Seattle tour through Pioneer Square, during which you'll visit a few of the city's most haunted drinking establish- ments. Ghost hunter Ross Allison leads the 90-minute walking tour through our city's oldest neighborhood, telling untold stories of its notorious past and documented sightings. This fun and educational evening begins at the historic J&M Café with a hosted happy hour drink and appetizers. It ends with another complimentary drink, this time at the world famous Merchants Café, Seattle's oldest restaurant. In between, you'll hear true tales of scandal, murder, sex and the ghosts that still walk among us. Join us as we party with the spirits—both kinds—and raise a glass to the living dead. 5:30–8 pm; $38; cancel by October 18; adult-themed stories; 21 and over only; cameras welcome Dia de los Muertos 40th annual Celebration at El Centro de la Raza Thursday, November 1 Dia de los Muertos (aka Day of the Dead) and Dia de los Inocentes (aka Day of the Innocents) happen each November 1–2. Latinos around the world celebrate the holidays by bringing their homes—and their relatives' gravesites—alive with photo- graphs, flowers, bright colors, favorite foods and more. Learn about these time- honored traditions and celebrate these multidimensional holidays. Start at the WAC and travel by motor coach to El Centro de la Raza (Center for the People of All Races), where we'll meet our guide for a tour of approximately 20 altars. A permanent altar, or ofrenda, is on display for founder and executive director for 37 years, Roberto Maestas, a proud WAC member and humanitarian who passed away in 2010. You'll learn the details and meaning of the altars—some elaborate, some simple, and all rich in symbolism. After the tour, take in the festivities, including dancing and traditional foods such as mole (MOH-lay), rice, beans, pan dulce (sweet bread) and hot chocolate. Includes dinner and guided tour at the center as well as round-trip transportation from the WAC. 4:45–7:30 pm; $35; cancel by October 23 NEW Jubilee Casino Dealer Training Mondays, November 12, 19, 26 bration and biggest party of the year. We again invite members to volunteer as deal- ers and assistants in the Jubilee casino. Returning dealers help train new dealers to work the craps, roulette and blackjack tables or assist as card shufflers/runners. Training sessions are informative, fun and casual. A light buffet and beverages are included. Because only members may attend the training and work the casino, this is a great opportunity to meet other members—and it's perfect for singles or couples. New dealers should attend all three sessions. Returning dealers should attend at least two. If you're interested in volunteering, can attend the training and work a two-hour shift on November 30 (the rest of the evening is for you to enjoy Jubilee), please contact Club Programs casino coordinator Robert Laurent at the WAC's anniversary cele- rlaurent@wac.net or 206.464.3061. 6–8 pm; complimentary; Noble Room International Comedy Competition Tuesday, November 20 NEW 33rd Annual Seattle Always a sellout, the Seattle International Comedy Competition brings the first night of the finals to the WAC and pits the top five comedians against each other in 15-minute rounds.
