A: Yes, generally speaking. Some enzyme products have enzymes that can digest food in almost any PH range in the body, so even if some of the food is no longer in the stomach after 2 hours or even if the stomach PH is different than it was 2 hours ago, those types of enzymes would still help. However, you may want to consider other supplements for bloating if a digestive enzyme isn't working well enough. Apple cider vinegar, Swedish bitters, a liver/gallbladder cleanse, fennel, ginger, a probiotic, or other remedies may be helpful additions to taking a digestive enzyme for bloating. Also, food choice and portion size are important factors to consider. High amounts of protein, high amounts of fat, large portions of legumes, large portions of grains, and large portions of raw veggies can sometimes cause more bloating, depending on the person. Q: Is magnesium citrate or magnesium oxide better for constipation? A: Magnesium oxide is better. The majority of magnesium oxide stays in the colon instead of absorbing into the rest of the body. This draws water into the colon, creating loose stools. This is why it works better for constipation. However, magnesium citrate is better for just about every other reason a person would take magnesium: relaxation, stress, hydration, heart health, muscle cramps, etc. Q: What do you suggest for allergies? I'm having a hard time with them this year. A: Boswellia, butterbur, and licorice are what are working for me this year. Zinc and vitamin D3 are also helpful. Quercetin is very popular too. This year I took 3 softgels of Boswellia twice per day, 2 capsules of butterbur twice per day, and 2 capsules of licorice twice per day. The Hyalogic Dry Nose nasal spray, which contains hyaluronic acid, also helped. Feel better. -Collin TO RECEIVE A 1-ON-1 ONE HOUR CONSULTATION WITH COLLIN CALL (813) 265-4951 TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
