www.AbbysHealthFood.com | # 56| Page 13 Merle Sardis-Brown (2015-2021 in memoriam) Group Leader "Merle the Pearl" from Estonia, was actually one of our very first applicants to the farm, applying the same week as Lisbeth Burgera! Unfortunately, she wasn't able to actually begin volunteering until a couple years later because of family obligations. Once here, she was clearly the most energetic, hardworking volunteer that had the most beautiful spirit and smile imaginable. The farm was honored to host her celebration of life in March of 2021, and we are honored to recognize her contributions to the farm posthumously. Hall of Fame Sponsors/Donors Greg & Marissa Shell of Shell's Feed and Garden Supply (2015-2022) Sadly, Shell's Feed and Garden Supply closed their doors in November of last year. However, they left a living legacy of their generosity and commitment to their community at Abby's Farm. When I approached Greg Shell in the summer of 2015 with our vision (nothing was here, not even a raised bed!) "he said sure what do you want me to do?? I told him we needed a coop, chickens, and food………he said, "order the coop you want, I'll pay for it, I'll order the chickens and get whatever you need for them"! Talk about unusual and unmerited favor. Needless to say, they provided, food, deworming, bedding for our chickens……for almost 8 years! To say these folks were friends of the farm and instrumental in our success would be an understatement indeed. Jim and Roberta Sauls (2017 to present) Jim and Roberta live in California but have a home here and have been going to Abby's store in Carrollwood for many years. Roberta and Abby were kindred spirits and like so many others, Abby was instrumental in their pursuit and journey in living a healthy lifestyle. They were already supporting the farm but when Abby passed in 2018, they became very interested in our vision and mission at the farm to carry on her legacy. They have played a significant role supporting our biggest projects and helping the farm to become financially sustainable.
