It would probably be easier to described what Jeff DOESN'T DO at the farm 1) He doesn't play well with others 2) He doesn't announce himself; he quietly rolls up in the electric golf cart and scares you…everywhere, 3) He doesn't do crowds! Apart from that, there isn't a structure, irrigation pipe, greenhouse initiative, fence post or project that doesn't have his fingerprints. He was a reluctant neighbor that wanted to see if we were for real and would actually do what we said. Once convinced, he's been a stalwart supporter of the farm, often just buying (personally) whatever is needed at the farm. It's not unusual for Jeff to visit the farm 3, 4 or 5 times a day. Mike Richey (since 2016) Governing Board Member………. Farm Guardian……………Farm Builders……………………. Mike, like Jeff, is a loyal, regular volunteer at the farm that lives just down the street and usually is here in his golf cart, often before or right at daybreak. Mike has been a valuable part of every major building project that was needed, offering not only a strong back but also the knowledge and skills for building things. More recently, I simply text him a list of wood I need cut and by 7a.m. it's on the workbench ready for assembly. David & Connie Schmidt (since 2017) Governing Board Member………. Farm Guardian……. Advisory Board Member……………. Group/Committee Leaders……………. David and Connie have been involved with every aspect of the farm from group/committee leadership to building fences and The Future of Farming Visit our site to learn, contribute and/or volunteer! As neighbors on the other side (live on Deer Lake North of farm) they have been wonderful guardians of watching out for our farm as it was being developed. The guardians have played a major role in the development of Abby's Farm and without their skills, diligence, and watchful eye on our lovely farm, it's hard to imagine we could have accomplished what we have in 8 years. Bill Graves (since 2019) Farm Builder…………. Advisory Board Member…………………Bill Graves was our original "McGyver" at the farm. For those of you were born after 2000, MacGyver was a TV series that created a moniker for someone that could do, fix, build, create……anything from nothing. Bill has been instrumental in developing several growing areas of the farm, built the workbench in the garage that is used every day and my guess is it will be here after the house falls down. Bill works on the tractor, on irrigation, on electricity, repairs, and fixes tools. I think you get the idea of how valuable he has been to the farm! Yocaira (Yoky) Harris (since 2019) Advisory Board Member…………. Group Leaders/Leader…………. Farm Guardian(honorary)……Yoky is an honorary "farm guardian" because while she doesn't live down the street, she is here at all hours of the day and night. Furthermore, no one watches what goes on here as closely and carefully as her………because of her love for the farm. She began our "row farming" initiative with the area we affectionately dubbed Yokytown and has continued developing areas of the farm for this purpose. Her leadership, leading our group leaders has been exemplary, which has taken a huge burden of communication and coordination off of my shoulders. Her peaceful, encouraging, and positive attitude is infectious, and she is an incredible asset to the farm and our farm family.
