Quercetin belongs to a large family of phytonutrients known as flavonoids. It is found in onions, kale, broccoli, apples, berries, and teas. Holistic doctors like me greatly value quercetin because research demonstrates it has potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and immune-modulating properties. Moreover, quercetin has an excellent safety record. One of the concerns with quercetin is that it is poorly absorbed from the gut into the bloodstream. To achieve a therapeutic effect, one must take very high doses of quercetin. Fortunately, a technology was developed to enhance the absorption of up to 20 times more than regular quercetin! This superior form is Quercetin Phytosome®, also referred to as Quercefit®. This is the exact ingredient found in Emerald Laboratories Quercetin Phytosome. Nutritionists and naturopathic doctors have long used quercetin to help people with asthma and allergies. The natural antihistamine and non- drowsy effect of quercetin make it a helpful product for these conditions. Moreover, Quercetin Phytosome has been shown in published studies to improve symptoms of hay fever and asthma. Also of interest is the immune-supportive benefits of quercetin. Quercetin Phytosome was demonstrated in studies in the past few years to have a protective effect against viral conditions.
