There's a certain light, breath of fresh air, soil beneath our boots that reminds us that we are always working towards the future and health of people and the planet. In 1994, my wife Pam and I saw there was a growing health care crisis. People needed natural medicine. This is why we created Oregon's Wild Harvest. We are committed to providing traditional whole plant medicine to all. For over 5000 years, traditional herbal medicine was the only medicine. Mother Nature provided us with the plants that are loaded with thousands of active and inactive constituents. These plants were put on this earth for us to use and our bodies instinctively know what to do with them. As a society, we have lost our connection with the plant world. This is why we make whole, unaltered herbal supplements that contain a balance of constituents working together to create perfect harmony within the body - homeostasis. There are many different ecosystems on this beautiful planet we call Mother Earth, and, in each ecosystem, there are specific plants that evolved naturally and have adapted to those ecosystems. This provides nourishment and sources of healing powers from Mother Nature herself. Soil is the lifeblood of our farm; our practice uses composting, cover crops, and homoeopathic remedies to protect, regenerate, and feed the land. Plus, the healthier the soil, the more carbon we can see cluster from the atmosphere back down into the soil where it belongs. As organic and biodynamic farmers, we work to give more back to the earth than we take out. We support biodiversity and healthy relationships between plants, pollinators, and animals. We treat our farm as a living ecosystem. We connect with the environment around us by relying on the energy of the sun, the moon, and the seasons to nurture and strengthen the vitality of the plants. This is what sets us apart. Seeds are the embryos of plant life. I've got kids and, for me, growing seeds is like raising kids: you need to make sure you create a healthy environment for them to thrive and take off. My dad always says, "Kids are the future and teaching kids about organic and biodynamic farming is so important because we're handing down traditional herbal knowledge and farming know-how for the future." I'm pretty sure he's right on this one! On the farm, we grow a huge variety of herbs, things like calendula, St. John's wort, holy basil, and valerian. What we can't grow ourselves, we source from others who share our commitment to the plants and the environment, including our high standards. I make sure our herbs are harvested at Our Mission of Healing, People and Planet
