The degrees are generally related to environmental sciences, horticulture and agriculture but we've even had a history student that we had write a curriculum on the "History of Farming". Like our actual farm volunteers, the interns also seem to come from around the globe (while attending a local school) which is always fascinating because they bring a unique perspective from gardening in their state or country of origin. Our most recent intern, Dylan Burke, is from Grand Cayman Islands and he is already making an impact related to reviewing some best practices at the farm, as well as having great input regarding many of our tropical fruit trees. Abby would love all of this and look at it and say: "Carry on!" Abby's Farm is so excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Abby's Health and Nutrition in Carrollwood. Our dear Abby Sayler would be so proud of her work, vision and commitment to health being carried on in the community. She began with the motto and mission "Better Health through Education" and her company and farm legacy have never wavered from that commitment. Speaking of which, one of the elements of the farm that she would be just giddy about is our intern program that began in 2016 and has continued to be a vibrant part of our continued success. Interestingly, as you might have heard before, Abby was actually a volunteer intern at a local community farm during her college years or just after, here in Tampa. I'm told there is a picture of her (haven't found it) actually driving the tractor at that farm. She would be so excited to see the volumes of young lives that have chosen for Abby's Farm to be a part of their story while attending high school, college and then starting their careers. Our interns are either from local high schools or homeschool groups seeking Bright Future Abby's Interns Educating the next generation! ...
