BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS AND FUN AT THE TRACK Long-time race fans and NE customers enjoy food, interaction and racing Steve Cook, CEO of NE, saw that NASCAR racing was a major sport that his customers were talking about and followed weekly. By STEVE BIBCOCK So, in 1993, Cook decided to become involved as an associate sponsor in the NASCAR Xfi nity Series as a great way to build a stronger relationship with customers. NE is in its 25th year as an associate sponsor in the Xfi nity Series on the #7 car of JR Motorsports driven by Justin Allgaier. And in the October 6th race, Allgaier lead 23 of the 200 laps while ending up 3rd. The #7 team made consistent top 10 fi nishes in 2018, which allowed Allgaier to win the regular season championship for JR Motorsports. At the Dover event, NE erected a large tent with games available, while entertaining about 200 customers with a Friday night meet-and-greet with Allgaier and his race team crew members. Along with a BBQ with lots of food and drinks, Allgaier answered a Q&A and autographed specially designed shirts provided by NE. NE also sponsors a special experience for a selected customer referred to as the Ultimate Race Fan. The October Ultimate Race Fan was Paul Mentzer from AJ Michaels, Baltimore, MD. Accompanying Mentzer was his father-in-law Dean Mullhausen, also a long-time NASCAR race fan. They were given race team shirts and considered part of the pit crew while watching the race on top of the #7 team pit box, and listening to the team race conversation. Mentzer said, "The Ultimate NASCAR Experience was fi rst-class, like everything NE does for us in their day-to-day business with AJ Michaels, and they have served us well for many years." "Dean and I have been to several NASCAR races over the years sitting in the grandstands," Mentzer added. "But being on the inside of the race track was so exciting, to see what goes on before, during and after the races. I am amazed at the opportunity and appreciative of the fun we had during NE's Ultimate NASCAR Experience."
