One virus has changed history forever. My kids will grow up remembering this pandemic as a me they needed to do school at home, take a rest from all ac vi es including watching professional sports, me away from their friends while hoping that life will get back to normal again. As nega ve and fearful as everything might seem there's always blessings in a storm. For instance, I have met neighbors that I never knew, that have lived in our neighborhood for years, just because everybody's outside walking and biking. Families are spending more quality me together, doing things other then running around from commitment to commitment. People are cooking at home, looking up healthy recipes and ways to keep their immune system up. Some have lost their jobs but others have found crea ve ways to start businesses they never thought they would. Some businesses have shut down permanently, while others have adapted with crea ve ways that will remain a er all this is over. As for Abby's, I am grateful that we are an essen al business and that not one of our staff members was laid off or furloughed. Suppor ng small businesses in mes like this is crucial for our economy, as America was built on the hard work and sweat of people running small businesses. Without our loyal customers suppor ng us every step of the way, we could not stay open, and we could not afford to pay our employees or provide them with benefits. Let me tell you about some of the greatest and bravest people that I know. O en mes we tend to think of doctors, nurses and first responders as the only ones being in the front line. And they are, I am grateful for them and I certainly don't want to take anything away from them. Without them, life would be very different, and for that I am eternally grateful. However coming to work every day, interac ng with coworkers and customers, making sure Abby's is clean and sani zed, the shelves are stocked, orders are placed on me, food is freshly prepared, and curb side orders are put together to service our community and our customers, is something we can't overlook. In the last 90 days, I have witnessed my staff stepping up to the challenge and adapt to the changes that took place because they love what they do, and that is: serving. I could not be more proud of them, and I thank God for allowing me to work alongside them. I'm confident together we will overcome these difficult mes, and Abbys will con nue to be a place where people can find the highest quality foods, the best variety of supplements and the most knowledgeable caring staff.
