Founded by "Doc" Nave and Diena Cannavino, BAT is a non-profit that educates, empowers, counsels and mobilizes members of the motorcycle community to make a difference in this age old war. Check out our Facebook page at BikersAgainstTraffickingFL or our website to learn how you can get involved and start making a difference today. 407-300-8971 Bikers Against Trafficking (BAT) is running full on with our knees in the breeze. The battle to eradicate human sex trafficking has never been more challenging with the erosion of our culture feeding the brashness of our enemy but we are resolute in our quest to make a difference. At present BAT is working with close to 250 Foster Care Youth who have all been touched by human trafficking. As many of you are aware, one of the unfortunate side effects of the foster care system is that many are trafficked while in the system. A scathing report published last week by the South Florida Sun Sentinel stated that the Department of Children and Families is exploiting a loophole in the law and placing vulnerable girls to group homes in a violation of the law. Teen girls are then preyed on by traffickers who "shark the block," which means they wait for a girl to walk to the corner store and take advantage of them. The article went on to say, "Florida is notorious for its rampant sex trafficking and is a tourist State packed with hotels, the top venue for this crime." The system was privatized in 1998 and now kids are placed with the lowest bidder. It is a tragedy and BAT is determined to step in and make a difference. We have partnered with the Alan Madden Foundation to provide homes for kids who are in foster care and those who have aged out with nowhere to go. We place one teen in a home with a family and provide care year-round. We have gotten the price down to $400 per teen per month to provide for their needs. (You can donate by going to our website BikersAgainstTrafficking.org). We also have been able to establish a BAT House where we provide a home for six who have aged out of the foster care system, and we are in the process of establishing more. The work is great, and we understand that at the moment we are only impacting a few but we are determined to never give up. BAT also is continually attempting to expand its imprint across the United States and Canada by establishing new Chapters that all have at their core a desire to eliminate human trafficking. If you are interested in starting up a chapter, get a hold of us and we will partner with you in making a difference. You can contact Doc@BikersAgainstTrafficking.org to learn more. BAT also continues to speak around the world via in person and online training sessions. We spoke at the Statewide DCF Conference in August and Rainey just got back from working with the US Marshals office on Missing Children this past November in Denver, CO. We stay busy making a difference and each week we are asked to help find housing or to provide clinical trauma counseling for another person. We lean in on God as we know He has the resources and wisdom to lead us forward and we thank each of you for praying with us and for us. We know your prayers continue to make an eternal difference in this great spiritual cosmic conflict. January is the national human trafficking awareness month, and we are providing training online and in person as well as speaking at various venues. If you know of a church, group, organization that desires for us to speak we will make that happen. Just reach out and we will see what only God can do. We remain in His hands. Peace, Doc, Rainey and the incredible BAT team B.A.T. Bikers Against Trafficking Christ's Light in a Dark World! 8 | WheelsOfGrace.com | #65
