18 Bill murray, jan vogler & friends SUN, MAR 18 | DELL HALL | 7:30PM Bill Murray Sings Gershwin and Talks Whitman in "New Worlds" Always a curious character, Hollywood mainstay Bill Murray is striking a new creative tone. Teaming up with German cellist Jan Vogler, the two have devised a surprising program of spoken literary classics against a backdrop of musical pieces from all genres—"e Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" set to "Moon River," Hemingway with Ravel. is Spring Murray and Vogler bring this joint program that showcases the core of American values in literature and music to the city of Austin, combining classical pieces with spoken word to create a show that communicates the bridges artists have built between America and Europe over the past several centuries. Twain, Hemingway, Whitman, Cooper, Bernstein, Gershwin and Foster are some of the strongest voices that influenced generations of humans in America and gave the world a picture of the charm, energy and creative force of the New World. Together with violinist Mira Wang and pianist Vanessa Perez, Murray and Vogler create a quartet of American experience. "I am bathing in this experience, really," says Murray. "I can't get enough of it." ■ LONG CENTER PRESENTS 2017-2018 W I N T E R/S P R I N G S E A S O N 18
