14 | WheelsOfGrace.com | #70 Welcome back to Shop Talk with Pastor Jim. Today my buddy's bike is down, it needs some TLC. It needs a little care. And I was thinking about this and where do we take the bikes? When they need some work, If they need a little bit of help, we take them to the service shop. We take them in to get the repairs they need. And as I was thinking about this, God really impressed on me: at church, too many times we come, and whether it's the church itself or people, when they come through the doors, they think that we have to be perfect, that things have to be just right before you can enter the church. And that's not the case! That is not what God is calling us to do, or to be, or what the church is supposed to be (I'm talking about the building, not the people). But we are supposed to come to the church, broken at times, kind of messed up, needing TLC, needing the repairs we need, the repairs God has for you and me. The church should not be a place that we come all beautified and polished and all that. We should be coming broken and ready for God to move in our lives. There are times there's going to be the blessings and we need to shout those out. But there's also the times that we are broke and just say, "Hey, I'm not doing too good today." And it all is ok. It has to be a place we come, and we let the Master Mechanic, Christ Himself, change us, make us more into His image, put us all back together. Just like this bike is going to be going down the road soon, you need to be going down the road of life and testifying to what Christ has done in your life. So, when you come to church, look at it as a service department and a place to get yourself fixed, just as this bike is getting repaired. Come to the church that way. Let God do something new in you. As the scripture says, "Come to me, all who are weary…" That means if you're tired of life beating you up, tearing you down, this is the place to be - at church. Get the rest. Get into the Word. Let people pray for you and over you and watch what God's going to do in your life. So, remember, church should always be a service. See you soon!
