Page 8 | Abby's Magazine | www.AbbysMag.com Our mission has always been clear. Abby knew from first-hand experience consul ng with literally thousands of people about their health choices… adults are o en set in their ways and not willing to change habits, even with their very health hanging in the balance. However, children are very impressionable and good healthy habits are as easily learned and embraced as bad ones. We are very proud of our accomplishments in this regard, thanks in no small part to the generosity of our community suppor ng our farm and the loyal par cipa on by the parents, schools and homeschool groups all over the Tampa Bay Area. Our curriculum, whether field trips or Nature Labs, is to introduce the next genera on to the value of being outdoors in nature; learning about nature; learning about growing their own healthy, organic food; understanding our own personal carbon footprint and being more environmentally responsible; and living a more rewarding, sustainable lifestyle. We know from medical science… that developmentally, there are parts of the brain, many of the motor skills for children 3-8yrs old, that can only be developed by being outdoors in nature. We have had the dis nct pleasure over the years of serving a diverse group of young people. We have served young people diagnosed with acute schizophrenia, au sm and a host of special needs over the years. While I am not qualified to make a determina on regarding medical or psychological improvement, I can absolutely a est to huge smiles, reac ons to involvement and comments from the parents and sponsors.
