2 that we don't use scripture, talk about Jesus and pray for our meal and people's needs - just that these things season our event and not dominate it. Open your breakfast with a warm welcome and pray a heartfelt prayer of thanksgiving for the safe ride and meal before us, using simple "non-religious" language. By all means thank GOD and pray in the name of JESUS. Just don't preach a sermon. Show your guests that you like good music, love to have laugh and have fun and that Jesus is real and relevant! About the breakfast. Your choice for a restaurant needs to provide a good, simple and affordable breakfast. The meal needs to either be a buffet (not available during COVID) or a "one plate pick- up." Well-meaning waitresses will interrupt your program. Look for a restaurant that will charge you ONE price (per person) that includes beverage and tip. Add a dollar to that price to help cover your cost of door prizes, trophies, etc. At the door, collect one price from each person ($10-$12). which buys them breakfast, beverage, and one or two door prize tickets. Additional sales of door prize tickets (and 50/50 tickets if you choose) will further help to fund your event. This is a time for good food, exciting music, laughing with friends and enjoying one another ...and a witness that God is good and Christians aren't stuffy out-of-touch killjoys. NOTE: We have often chosen to use Mexican "sit down" restaurants for several good reasons. (1) They generally do not open for breakfast - and are therefore very accommodating for the extra revenue. (2) All they have to do is add scrambled eggs to their menu of beans, rice, carne asada and tortillas and (3) Mexican food is usually very affordable. Now that we know why we are hosting a breakfast - our motivation...and who we are catering to - our mission? ...and what our strategy or program should be - to show our guests that we like good music, love to laugh and have fun and show that Jesus is real and relevant...the last two are easy. Where and When I've suggested that you consider a Mexican restaurant for the reasons above, but if you can find a nice restaurant with a simple menu and a large private room, that can work as well. (The Mexican restaurant option is helpful because most don't serve breakfast and therefore the whole facility is available.) If a restaurant does not have a large private rooms, sometimes a semi- private "wing" of the restaurant might work. The point is that absolute segregation from the public allows your group a place to have music, and laughter, and applause - all the things that make for a fun and exciting time. (The other aspect of Where is in regard to the ability to actually find the event. A great restaurant that no one can is not a good choice. The question of when to have your breakfast is best illustrated by the word EVERY. Saturday morning is the obvious day of the week but what time and how often? Sticking with the Mexican restaurant option, your group is going to need to be gone by 11:00 am at the latest, making room for the lunch crowd, therefore 9:00am should do the trick. But the strategic word EVERY speaks to building a reputation through CONSISTENCY. If your breakfast is going to be on the first Saturday of the month then meet EVERY FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH and don't ever change that! Your breakfast will attract "regulars" who may only come three times a year - but they'll know where and when you are having breakfast. Advertising We cannot over emphasize the importance of letting people know when and where you are meeting and reminding them well in advance. With the use of social media, it is easier than ever. 1. Make (or have made) an attractive colorful flier (half sheets are fine and cut your print cost in half). 2. Put them in your dealership, repair shops, on motorcycles in parking lots. etc. 3. Check your spelling twice 4. Remember to use WHO, WHAT, WHERE and WHEN.
