PROBLEM: A national amusement park was in need of a solution that would improve functionality, reduce lead times for replacement parts, and provide a cost savings. Long lead times were keeping maintenance crews from timely replacement and parts were expensive to purchase. Once these replacement parts were finally installed, they experienced early failures of the gaskets in the application. SOLUTION: By working closely with the end user, the engineering team at Dichtomatik proposed a custom molded gasket solution which allows for easy installation. In addition to providing cost savings, lead times were reduced from 16 weeks with their previous vendor to just a few days thanks to a stocking agreement of the custom part. Testing the product prior to implementation provided smooth transition; the new gaskets performed better, down time was reduced, and maintenance costs decreased.
