" Our supporters see what an amazing resource the WAC is and they say, 'Wow, that's genius.'" Sarah Schacht has made the WAC her workplace. THE MOBILE OFFICE When you think about how you use the Schacht. The social entrepreneur exemplifies the Club's business-users. Sarah works entirely without a traditional office, instead staying connected virtually and via in-person meetings at the Club. As executive director of Knowledge As Power, a civic engagement and open government nonprofit, Sarah's position requires her to innovate across government and within her organization. "The WAC has been a fantastic resource for WAC and how it continues to evolve, one person you don't want to miss is Sarah me and my organization," Sarah says, sitting at a window booth in the 8th Floor Sports Café, where she often meets on the job. She also uses the Johnson Lobby Lounge, Card Room, and Torchy's Gold and Silver rooms for meetings along with the 9th Floor Guest Office. Sometimes, she says, new supporters enter those meetings skeptical about doing business in an athletic club. But, she adds, they quickly set aside old thinking when they step inside. "Our supporters see what an amazing resource the WAC is and they say, 'Wow, that's genius.'" Oh yes, and using the Club as your office makes it really easy to squeeze in workouts. Between meetings, Sarah often slips off to Women's Fitness. Peek inside her locker on the 7th Floor and you'll see gym shoes and boxing gloves right next to pens, notebooks, business cards and a thumb drive. "The combination of resources at the WAC has been incredibly useful," says Sarah. "For people like me who have an untraditional work environment and who work by themselves a lot, the WAC is perfect." Anna Simmons agrees—the WAC is perfect—and yet she uses the Club in a totally different way. Each Tuesday morning, THE MEETING PLACE she's in the 12th Floor Boardroom or 8th Floor Card Room for a WAC Toastmasters meeting.
