"When the game is over, you find out these guys aren't just good players but really good people, too." Chris Sheeks is a coach and player on WAC men's teams. Chris Sheeks knows exactly what Bill means when he recalls the times he had with his daughters. Chris joined the WAC in 1999—along with wife Shannon—for the Club's basketball program. The Sheeks family has since grown to include two sons and a daughter. "You can't just sum up the WAC," Chris says. "It has so much to offer." Chris and a few hundred of his best friends make the Club's basketball program the best around. But it's about more than hoops. "When the game is over, you find out these guys aren't just good players but really good people, too," he says. "The more time you spend around the Club, the more people like that you meet." Chris lives on the east side of Lake Washington and works downtown. He's at the WAC four to five times a week. "I try to use it for just about everything," he says. That includes meeting a group of friends monthly in the Sports Café and bringing his 6-, 8- and 10-year-old to swim lessons at Helene Madison Pool. It also means regular family stays at the Inn at the WAC "just for fun." 30 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | JULY 2012 CHRIS JOSEPH TAYLOR
