Page 6 | Abby's Magazine - www.AbbysMag.com ASK Abby ASK Abby What is your opinion about Braggs apple cider vinegar as a healing agent for high blood pressure and kidney stones? I heard it is anti-bacterial and a pH balancer. Is this fact or myth? - Wade Dear Wade, Many of Abby's customers have given great feedback about the benefits of Braggs ACV including pH balance. For high blood pressure I recommend magnesium, up to bowel tolerance. For kidney stones the herb "stone breaker" works well to dissolve the stones. Increase your fluid intake as this may be the underlying cause of your kidney stones. Sincerely, Abby I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I am currently off Synthroid, but my TSH is 37. I am a Kosher vegetarian. Can you recommend a natural thyroid that does not come from pigs? Thanks! - Iris Hi Iris, I recommend "Metal Flush" by Dr. Chi as this product has reversed Hashimoto's in many of my clients! I recommend that you get a full thyroid panel, including Free T3 and Reverse T3 as well as the customary TSH and T4. Also check for iodine deficiency. Abby's does carry a variety of non-pig thyroid balancing supplements. Sincerely, Abby My son (14 year old) has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. He is on prednisone (60mg a day), Pentasa, Protonics, and probiotics and vitamins. Is there anything you can recommend so he can discontinue the medications? - Gavin Dear Gavin, Your son's doctor will cut back on his meds as he improves. I recommend a change in his diet. Remove gluten, dairy and other "trigger foods". (The list is available here at Abby's.) I recommend Dr. Chi's "Digestron" to replace Protonics as well as a good probiotic. Also a medical food that will reduce inflammation (Ultra-X) is of great assistance. This combination has worked very well with many of our customers. Sincerely, Abby I have optic neuritis in my right eye. It is improving but I wish to take supplements to help it get better. What would you recommend? - Paul Dear Paul, Optimum treatment, of course, depends on the cause, whether it is inflammatory, infectious, circulator, or a neurological problem. If the cause is an infection, I personally use colloidal silver directly in my eye. For inflammation I recommend "Wobenzym" on an empty stomach or "Curamed" (contains turmeric). If viral, "Virasyl" taken on an empty stomach morning and bed time has proven to be very effective. Follow with "Nerve Shield" to repair any residual nerve damage. Sincerely, Abby My adult son has been diagnosed with shingles but was not treated within 72 hours and now is very sick. What can you suggest to help his recovery? "Virasyl" has proven to work very well to deactivate the shingles virus. Two or three capsules upon wakening and at bed time for 10 days typically does the trick. If there is residual nerve pain, "Nerve Shield" by Redd Remedies usually over time repairs the damage. Sincerely, Abby I am currently on thyroid (Armour) hormone from 15mg to 30mg and now experience heart palpitations. My doctor has dropped me to 15mg every other day. I also use iodine. I have had breast cysts and biopsies for many years. I am 60 and use bioidentical hormones. I do not want to cause any breast cancer and have read that thyroid hormone can cause breast cancer. I would like to start taking iodine. How much iodine can I supplement with daily? Thank you for a reply. - Livinia Dear Livinia, The dosing of iodine is dependent upon your overall thyroid health. I recommend that you get a full thyroid panel (TSH, T4, Free T3, Reverse T3 and thyroid antibody test) as well as your iodine level checked. If you are iodine deficient, dosages often are increased by your doctor short term to help address insufficiency. Bioidentical hormones may increase your chance of breast cancer! Read Abby's Mag "Improve Hormones", Volume 2 Issue 2. "Myomin" is a must while using BHRT!
