If I turn the handlebars side to side, the headlight and passing lamps will come on. I took the cover off the fuse box and put my finger on the headlight relay, when I turn the ignition switch on, I can feel the relay click. I'm now thinking that there must be a loose connector or ground wire inside the headlight nacelle, any guidance would be appreciated. Joe, throw a towel over your front fend- er and remove your head light bucket. Inspect your head light, head light plug, and harness. Make sure your connections can be secure and are without corrosion. While your nacelle is open, try to get a look at your passing lamp switch and it's harness. If you do not see anything obvious, plug your headlight in while it hangs loose. Turn on your ignition switch and tug on the related wiring harness. If you cannot get the light to go out, move up to your left side switch housing. Tug and poke around that harness while you trace it down into the nacelle. Play with your hi/low switch and your passing lamp switch. If you had a dead short, you would be blowing a fuse. This sounds more like a bad connection or a bad switch. Bike Bogs Down I have a 2003 Dyna Super Glide. My problem is that when I hit the throttle, it tends to choke sometimes. Also, what do you recommend doing if you have not ridden a bike for seven months? If you haven't ridden for a while, make sure you are start- ing off with fresh fuel. At least 93 octane pump gas. If your throttle response is not good, check for an intake leak; or, your carb may be due to be cleaned. Hard Start and Backfire I have a custom bike and it has a 1995 Harley engine, Sportster 883. The is, problem the bike is very hard to start, and it coughs or backfires from the carburetor and sometimes from the exhaust. Do you think it's the carburetor? I live in Denver Colorado thin air and high altitude. Check for an intake leak. You may need to replace your intake seals. Might be time to refresh the carb. Harley Steering Head Bearing I have a 2007 Sportster that I'm going to upgrade the steering head assembly from atop mount headlight setup to a bottom mount setup. I have the assembly already and have watched the Harley steering head bearing pack, adjustment and fall away video. If I go to replace the triple tree and bearings, is it similar? Just remove the forks, steering head bolt and slide it off, pack and replace the bearings, and reassemble? Is that pretty much it? Be sure to check your service manual as fall away may differ. Inspect your adjustment once again when you get back from your first ride on those new neck bearings. They may "settle" some. You may want to readjust. Harley Davidson Headlight Problem I have a 2011 Road King Classic. Recently I began to notice at night a H-D headlight problem and passing lamps would blink off and back on occasionally. The H-D headlight problems worsened and looking at the service manual, I decided the headlight relay must be bad. When I pulled the headlight relay, I noticed some corrosion on the connectors on the relay itself. I ordered a new relay, cleaned the connectors in the fuse box and installed the new relay. That didn't fix the problem. Now, the headlight does not always come on when TECH Q&A By Fix My HOG By Mark DiPietro
