The Hope Ride 2022 Yuma, Arizona The Convoy of Hope is a ministry that was born in 1994 and has grown, by the grace of God, to be a beacon of hope to those in great need. This humanitarian faith-based organization has a driving passion to feed the world through children's feeding initiatives, community outreach, and disaster response. In April 2022 a representative from the Convoy of Hope shared a vision he had with Black Sheep members for a possible Hope Ride in Yuma, AZ. The Hope Ride would provide a means of awareness to what The Lord is doing through the Convoy of Hope as well as provide funds to carry out the mission God has placed on the Convoy. The future Yuma chapter (14:23) felt a calling to help support this great ministry and partnered with the Convoy of Hope to host the very first Hope Ride on October 1 st , 2022. Local MC's, MM's, HOG members, businesses and churches gathered in full support of the Hope Ride. The Lord brought together the people and the resources necessary to make the Hope Ride the most profitable run in Yuma history, raising a total of $20,000. The funds raised will be used to help over 10 million refugees in Ukraine as well as those affected by hurricane Ian in Florida. Our God truly exceeded all expectations of this run and once again demonstrated that He is faithful. Black Sheep HDFC is truly grateful to just be present amid what God is doing with this ministry and plans to partner with the Convoy of Hope in 2023 to host the 2 nd annual Hope Ride. a Telling Someone About Jesus Marty Edwards If you are a member of Black Sheep, then you know our mission statement. You can probably recite it: "To introduce the world of motorcycle riders to Jesus Christ, for the purpose of making more and better disciples through the ministry of the local church." If you've NOT engaged someone lately, (or even tried to engage) you might be falling short of the mission. I. Excuses: The number one excuse for not engaging someone with the Gospel is, "It's not my gift." Evangelism is not my primary gift either, but it remains Christ command to all Christians. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you..." Even the patch on our backs says, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes..." Romans 1:16 Let's not belabor the fact by repeating passage after passage (Old and New Testaments ) that lay both the privilege and the burden of telling someone about Jesus at our feet - and the internet and book stores are full of books telling us HOW to share our faith. The real problem is simply stepping up and being courageous and obedient to the commands of Christ. II. Solutions: (1) Stop making excuses and start praying. Get serious about asking the Holy Spirit each day to fill you and give you the boldness to talk to someone about Jesus. (2) Choose your tools: Maybe it's the "Romans Road" or the "Four Spiritual Laws" or even Black Sheep's "Ten Things Every Biker Needs To Know Before They Die." What really matters is that you put something in your pocket before you leave the house that would help you in a conversation with someone. (3) Prepare your testimony. Do you know what's stronger than a deep theological discussion? Your personal story! Resistors to the Gospel can argue the what the Bible says or tell you about the hypocrites in their neighborhood or why the local church was mean to them, but when you say to someone ..."Hey look...this is the way I was before Jesus...and this is the way I am now."... it's hard to dispute that. Write it out! Practice it! Tell someone what Jesus means to YOU! (4) Keep it simple, keep it real and (unless they are asking questions) keep it short. Return to share another day. Some people have come to Christ after their first introduction and for some people it may take months or even years. Be faithful and be patient. I prayed for my brother Don (photo) for years and one night, sitting in my car, with no pressure, he gave his heart to Jesus - and today he is a member of BSHDFC Hickory, North Carolina. (photo) God is good! God is faithful! His Word NEVER returns void! (Isaiah 55:11) But we are His chosen instruments of Good News and if not us...who? And if not now....when? a
