his arms around his son until Sam thought he would be crushed. No words were needed. Tears of joy said everything that needed to be said. The next morning Sam got out of bed and stood looking out of his childhood bedroom window. The view was, of course, familiar but Sam thought to himself the farm had never looked so good, so green! In the coming weeks he didn't seem to mind the work and was even (a little) happy to be back with his stuffy old brother (who never ever really forgave him for leaving.). Neighbors gossiped and were shocked that the younger son had been so easily forgiven and welcomed back by his father. They whispered to themselves and others: "God only knows where that boy has been or what he's been up to! Probably doing drugs and sleeping with whores!" But all the father would ever say was, "He's my boy! He was gone and now he's home." You may think this story sounds unlikely, but make no mistake, it's been written down and told in a hundred different ways again and again. Sam is a picture of us and our treatment of our Heavenly Father. We have been allowed to take our own journey...walking away and running out of personal resources: money, strength, health, friends and hope. But when we come to the end that highway and admit that we can't make it alone anymore, there is a real Father waiting for us and there is always a way to get home. If we stop, turn around and move towards Him (the very definition of repentance) God will be there: no whispers, no judgement, no condemnation, just open arms. He's waiting for all of the prodigals...anticipating our return to the safety of His loving arms. (The Gospel of Luke, chapter 15:11-32) Sheep Shorts Oh Ewe Crazy Riders! We regret having had to cancel ILS2020 but several BSHDFC regions have organized their own events or tagged onto national events such as Sturgis. Our Great Northwestern region is planning an event in central Washington. The Southwest is gathering at the Four Corners in September. Black Sheep is meeting at the Wheaton College Camp just outside of Rapid City, SD during Sturgis Week. If none of these events or schedule work for you, plan your own regional event. All you need is (1) a destination (2) a date (3) a list of affordable local motels and (4) a key person who will make the plans and send out the invites. "But what will we do when we get there?" What we always do! Eat, ride, sleep, repeat! All it takes is a little leadership. New Store Products!
