Riding B etween the O cean and the S wamp Oswaldo Otero With a little over six million people and growing, Miami s i ts on the S outheast end of the continental U nited States . We are surrounded to the west by the Everglades and the east by what seems to be never - ending miles of beach. If New York is the capital of the world, surely Miami is the capital of Latin America. The Latino presence and influence make s Miami very unique, colorful and vibrant. We do ministry between burgers, Harleys and "Cafecito" (if you haven't tried Cuban Coffee you are missing out ! ). Miamians love th e diversity and the diversity love them back ! Being one of the most visited cities all year round, we have the opportunity to minister to bikers who come to our dealership looking for s ouvenir s . Many times they have come in for a t - shirt but t ake home with them a little bit of Jesus ; through prayer, a word of encouragement or simply a smile. God has called Black Sheep to do ministry in such a melting pot, where we have the opportunity t o minister to three different dealerships with in a 50 mile radius : Alligator Alley Harley - Davidson, Peterson's Harley Davidson South and Peterson's Harley Davidson of Miami. The latter being ( where my team is) a very active dealership with a very active HOG chapter. Between our HOG officers and the amazing weather , we are kept very busy . ( Interesting side note: we ride less during summer than other months.) As Black Sheep, we ride with our chapter, we flip burge rs with them, we pray for those that need prayer, we try to remain very active HOG member s ! Seeking to be good Black Sheep, we are earning the right to be heard ! The Miami Sheep are not yet a chapter . Right now it is just Abner and myself. (Perhaps you sa w Abner 's picture on the cover of last month's magazine?) W e are currently just two area contacts , but we are excited about our two mentees : Eddie and Provi ! the four of us are moving as one unit! W e are trying to act like one. For 2020 our motto is "Givin g purpose to our miles ! " Whatever we do, is purposely planned to bring honor to God and to better care for our HOG brothers and sisters . We have already seen God's hand in 2020 when we went to Daytona Bike Week and present ed BSHDFC to four different dealerships as well as many other Christians who were interested in knowing more about our ministry . Please keep Miami BSHDFC in your prayers and remember us if you plan your vacations on this side of the world.
