SHEEP SHORTS Ron Walker: RIP "Ranger Walker " was what we call: 100% Wool! That means he was about as involved and committed to BSHDFC as any person could be. He was the Lake Elsinore chapter pr esident for many years and then bec ame the Gr e ater San Diego Regional Director. Later, when all the titles were gone, he would come faithfully to the office a couple of times a week to run errands or just bring donuts to the prayer team. We'll miss you Ron! RIP Jill Walker writes: " God blessed me with a man who loved Jesus and LOVED me. We both shared the love for adventure and I have amazing memories (and photos) of every one of them. I miss him. I miss him holding me tight and the way it made me feel so completely loved. Thank you Lord for giving me a Godly man for a husband. Rest in peace my love! " Melvin (Mel, aka Reb) Harper: R.I.P. In his own words: " I grew up in small towns from Villa Rica to Norcross and Smyrna , Georgia. It was during a time when everyone treated each other like Family. We went outside to play, we got dirty.... We were lucky to get to buy chips & candy from the corner store. We played Red Light, Green Light, Mother M ay I, S imon Says ...and Red Rover. We p layed outside until the last bit of light, and caught lightening bugs after dark. We ate hot dogs, hamburgers and fries & peanut butter sandwiches with milk. We walked or rode bike s and never worried about safety. .. We weren't AFRAID OF ANYTHING, 'cept our parent s ! Kids weren't afraid of fake guns when I grew up. Real guns were just a part of life and we respected them as well as our parents, our teachers, the American flag, the principal AND God. We said the Pledge of Allegiance every time we went to school. We watched our mouths around our elders because we knew If we disrespected any adult there would be a price to pay ! I would not trade anything for the childhood we had, for we had enough and we had love and all that made us the adults we are today. " RIP Reb! Out of the Mouth of Babes Michael Ethington (photo) was lying underneath a Jaguar sedan after a bad accident when National VP Jim Birmingham rolled up on the scene and stopped to see if he could help. Jim stayed with Michael until help came and shadowed him through months of recovery. The two became close friends. It wasn't too long before Michael surrendered his heart to Jesus and it was suggested that he needed to be baptized. All of that was explained to the new convert and he was sent home to get a pair of shorts and a t - shirt for the ceremony. T aking Jim with him, Mike walked back into his bedroom and into a large closest where twelve feet of black Harley - Davidson tee - shirts were hanging. With all the sincerity and innocence of a new believer, Mike asked Jim to help him pick out a shirt for the b aptism, one that "Wouldn't piss God off." Some will say, "That's awful to use a word like that when referencing the Almighty." We think God looks down and smiles at the ignorance of young believers. We could translate Mike's f aux pas to say, "Hey Jim! I love Jesus so much! Help me find a tee - shirt that wouldn't be offensive." But that wouldn't be Michael Ethington. ILS2021 Too soon?
