Page 8 | Abby's Magazine - www.AbbysMag.com Hey, good evening. I have been dealing with respiratory and severe cough for months. All tests are coming back normal and doctors are saying it's due to bad gallbladder and allergies. I don't think it is as I work in the medical field as a paramedic. Someone mentioned they go to your guys' store and mentioned NAC naturel med. What is your recommendation. Does it work... will it work for my cough and open me up. I'm all about natural medicine. :) I'm 25 years old. - C. F. Hi C.F. My name is Collin. I was asked to respond to your inquiry above. Sorry you are suffering. A bad cough going on for months could be a few different things. It would normally and mostly likely be an infection or irritant or allergen you are constantly exposed to. It's usually best to ask a few questions in person, however, to ascertain the situation. If you would like to do so, I offer free consultations every Saturday. Give us a call to set one up. Otherwise, for now I'll recommend my chronic lung regimen: Black seed oil, NAC, and Vitamin A. 1 teaspoon twice per day on the black seed oil, 3 capsules twice per day on the Country Life NAC on an empty stomach, and 4 per day of the Carlson 25,000 IU vitamin A for 2 weeks. Black seed oil kills many different pathogens, is anti-inflammatory, and has been studied against bronchitis. NAC used to be found in inhalers for asthma, it cleanses the lungs, thins out mucus, and boosts the immune system. Vitamin A was studied against the vaccine for whooping cough and shown to be more effective. Talk to your doctor before making any changes. Be well. - Collin Gut Health - what prebiotics and probiotics supplements and foods do you recommend to heal gerd? - Anonymous Hi Anonymous. My name is Collin. I do the nutritional consultations at Abby's. I was asked to respond to your inquiry above. It depends on how long you have had GERD and what other supplements and medications you are taking. However, if we are just talking in general, for acid reflux (because legally I can't recommend something for GERD) the most important things I would recommend would be DGL chewables (2 chews 20 minutes prior to each meal) in combination with Flora Swedish Bitters 1-2 teaspoons in 3 ounces of water in the middle of meals. After 1-2 weeks on that regimen, I would then switch the Swedish Bitters for raw apple cider vinegar and do 1 – 2 Tablespoons in 3 ounces of water in the middle of your two largest meals of the day and continue doing the DGL. As far as pre and probiotics go, there are many good ones on the market you could do. The name of the game with probiotics is switching around to different ones. I like Enzymedica "prebiotics" powder or Garden of Life prebiotic fiber and either Dr. ohirra's probiotic (2 per day) or Probulin advanced care (1 per day). Consider eating fermented foods at least twice per day. Here are some options: sauerkraut, kimchi, miso, tempeh, umeboshi plums, kombucha, goat milk kefir, goat milk yogurt, etc. You will have to see which fermented foods you do well on and which you don't. Goat milk kefir and sauerkraut are probably the safest bets initially. For more info or a more personalized recommendation give us a call and sign up for a free consultation with me. Thanks. -Collin Hi Collin! I'm currently sick with a cold. It sprung up on Wednesday with sniffles. Friday was definitely the worst with congestion, tiredness, slight headache and feeling hot/cold. I don't think I have the flu but I just need this to go away with my first exam on Wednesday. Any suggestions for something I could buy? My resources are limited in Gainesville, so anything that would possibly be available at a Whole Foods? Thank you, - K.B. Hi K.B. Sorry you don't feel well. 1st choice: ACF by Buried Treasure, 2nd choice: Oregano oil softgels, 3rd choice: Echinacea goldenseal tincture. If funds are limited go with the tincture and double the dose it says to do on the bottle. Be well and ace that exam. -Collin asK abby's staff Do you have a question for Abby's Staff?
