The water creates resistance, which increases strength and heart rate. The buoyancy reduces impact and stress to joints. It's an invigorating and refreshing form of exercise and a thorough and challenging workout. Tuesday/Thursday: 6:45–7:45 am $10 (free with Fitness Advantage) Joints in Motion Ease joint and muscle pain. This class takes participants through gentle range- of-motion, joint-mobility and flexibility exercises. It is appropriate for those suffering from arthritis or muscle pain and stiffness or those recovering from an injury. Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 10:30–11 am $4 (free with Fitness Advantage) Intramural Age Group Swim Team This is an opportunity for swimmers con- sidering joining the swim team in the fall 48 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | JULY 2012 or who want to improve their endurance and technique. The intramural swim team began June 25 and runs for eight weeks. At the end of the eight-week program, a swim meet will be held. Awards will be presented. Online registration ongoing. Monday–Thursday: 4–5 pm $150/eight weeks Masters Swim Team The Masters Swim Team is a great opportunity for adult swimmers to par- ticipate in organized workouts to enhance endurance and improve stroke technique. Master swimmers are encouraged to attend practice regularly and to compete. Monday–Thursday: 6:30–7:30 pm $30/month Private Swim Lessons The WAC aquatics team offers lessons designed to suit anyone's needs. Private lessons available during family swim times, based on instructor availability. For ages 3 and up. Private lessons: $30 per lesson; $100 four-lesson package Semiprivate lessons (two-person limit): $40 per lesson; $140 four-lesson package Prices based on 30-minute lesson Cancel 24 hours in advance for refund Basketball Coach—Donald Watts Donald Watts, a former Husky and professional basketball player, brings his master coaching to the WAC. Washington State Consensus Player of the Year in 1995, Watts reached his heights in Seattle with two NCAA appearances. He motivates with a progressive technique that combines the mental, physical and technical aspects of the game. Sign up to work on your game one-on-one, with a partner or in a small group.
