14 | WheelsOfGrace.com | Issue 41 When God asked Jonah to go preach to the wicked, and the not so wicked, people of Nineveh—the modern day city of Mosul, Iraq—Jonah probably started trembling because he knew that the predecessors of today's ISIS fighters controlled the city. Angry, vicious, brutal men were who God wanted Jonah to confront. His assignment was the same as ours would be if God said, "Go to the ISIS terrorists, the Somali pirates, the Taliban, the Boca Haram or the Hezbollah and tell them about My Son." I've got a hunch we would do the "scriptural thing" and turn the other cheek alright, but then head just as far away from where God said "go to" as we could. Most Christians talk a good talk and walk a pretty good walk, but if we're gonna be genuine followers of Jesus then we shouldn't just talk it and walk it, WE SHOULD FLAUNT IT! The Bible says in Habakkuk 2:2 (ESV), Write the vision; make it plain on tables, so he may run who reads it. Meaning, we shouldn't keep the Good News secret, but by every means available, get the message of salvation out. I've used the following quotation for many years when preaching at rallies: We wear our patch and carry our tracts and tote our Bible with all the facts, but if all of us do no more than you, then what's the lost of the world gonna do? Luke 14: 23b says, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. That's our mandate, that's our mission. As followers of Jesus Christ, we need to ratchet up our walk with Him a few notches and not be ashamed of the Gospel. Our principle audience is not ISIS or Al-Qaeda. No, our people groups are the lost, gentle folks we live with, work with and play with, all of which will go to Hell if we don't tell 'em about Jesus. If, in the course of your day, you do encounter some unsavory characters and your fear factor rises up a degree, don't delay, go ahead and tell 'em Who you serve and see what happens. You may be pleasantly surprised. Striving to do right, Hellfighter Richard By Richard Headrick ARE WE JONAHS OR JOHN THE BAPTISTS? HELLfIGHTERS.ORG
