ASHRAE TC9.9 Update By DaViD Quirk, Pe, leeD aP, cem DlB associates a SHRAE TC9.9, Mission Critical Facilities, Data Centers, Technology Spac- es and Electronic Equip- ment, recently celebrated its 10th anniversary as a full-fledged ASHRAE Committee, and as such it is a good time to reflect back to see where the committee has been, and to look forward to what they are currently up to. is article will review TC9.9's mis- sion, published work, and impact on the industry as a whole. tc9.9's mission anD BackgrounD ASHRAE TC9.9's mission is to be recognized by all areas of the datacom industry as an unbiased engineer- ing leader in HVAC and an effective provider of technical information for the datacom industry. A key driver for TC9.9 is to eliminate any barriers to communication between the IT industry, the HVAC and electrical infrastructure industry, and owners/ users. is collaborative move was needed to bring together diverse areas of expertise, and lay at the core of rea- sons for TC9.9's formation. e data center industry, more than any other, is extremely dependent on the interde- pendency of these diverse industries and their direct and indirect drivers.
