20 | WheelsOfGrace.com | #66 Welcome to Shop Talk with Pastor Jim! Today we are looking at my 1972 Shovelhead. I love this old bike. The one thing that these old Harleys do is leak oil. If you have ever talked to someone who has had one of these bikes – the older bikes? They say: "They are not leaking oil; they are marking their territory." I am asking you today: How are you marking your territory as a believer in Jesus Christ? Are you showing up for church on Sundays and that is about all your spiritual life looks like? Maybe you are doing the two-minute Bible study on your phone, and you keep it to yourself because you don't want anybody to know you read the Bible. I am asking you today, what are people seeing in your life? Marking Your Territory Are you spreading God's Word? First of all, are you even getting into the Word? Are you letting people know who you are - that you are a follower of Jesus Christ? How does your family look at you? How do you act when you get home? It is easy to do the one hour or an hour and a half at church, speak the Christianese, and do the things you are supposed to do in church, but when you leave the building, we all know that the church is us - the people. So how do you act? How do you treat your spouse? How do you treat your kids? How do you treat your friends? How are you at work throughout the week? Are you working as though you are working for the Lord or are you just breezing through just like everybody else? How's your mouth? What's coming out? How do people see you when you are out and about? Do they know that you are a believer in Jesus Christ? Maybe you wear the shirt. Maybe you have the tattoos that have Christ on them, but what do people truly see with you? Matthew 6:33 says, "Seek ye first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you." For us, as believers, we need to be seeking the things that Christ has for us, first and foremost. Marking your territory is what that means. Let people know. Don't be afraid to walk through the good, the bad, and everything in between. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the Old Testament are a good example of this. The king wanted them to bow down. They said, We're not doing it. We only bow down to our God in Heaven. The king got mad, and he turned up the furnace. He said, You're going to be thrown into the furnace if you don't bow down before me. And these three kids said: "We're not doing it". They were thrown in the fire and when everybody looked in the fire, they saw four people: Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and Christ! Yes, Christ was in the fire with them. If you mark your territory and people know where you stand, God will be there with you each and every time. There is story after story after story throughout the Scriptures that shows us that when we mark our territory, when we say that we stand with Jesus Christ, that we are believers, we follow after Him. It should change the way we do things; it should change the way we talk to others; it should change everything we do in our life. So,until next time, look in the mirror, and ask yourself: am I marking my territory? Do people know where I stand? Are they seeing a difference in my life? Remember, mark your territory. Stand up and follow after Christ. Have a good one!
