WheelsOfGrace.com | Volume 11 Issue 6 | 13 For New V-Twin Engine With VVT By Dennis Chung The VVT Engine What is a VVT system? In internal combus on engines, variable valve ming (VVT) is the process of altering the ming of a valve li event, and is o en used to improve performance, fuel economy or emissions. It is increasingly being used in combina on with variable valve li systems. Is a VVT engine good? The increase of power in the upper parts of the rev range is great, but the low-down torque is what makes VVT so usable. ... Thanks to more precise handling of engine valves, VVT makes engines significantly more fuel economical than their non-VVT counterparts. What is the advantage of VVT engine? Engine valves control the intake of fresh air and fuel, and the exhaust of combustion gases. VVT and lift systems adjust the timing of the valves to match the operating conditions of the engine. This improves efficiency over a wide range of engine operating speeds. WheelsOfGrace.com Volume 11 Issue 6 13
