Sky Ridge Medical Center's Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. David Markenson was presented with the Harriman Award for Distinguished Volunteer Service from the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C., this fall. The award is the highest level of recognition an individual can r e c e i v e f o r v o l u n t e e r s e r v i c e s . D r . Markenson, who has served as chair of the Scientific Advisory Council since 2 0 0 5 , w a s h o n o r e d f o r o u t s t a n d i n g volunteerism and leadership by the Red Cross. As chair, Dr. Markenson leads a team of experts in fields that include medicine, emergency response, nursing and aquatics. The Council ensures all of the content in Red Cross courses adheres to the highest scientific standards, including program research, development and implementation. Dr. Markenson is a board-certified pediatrician with fellowship training in both pediatric emergency medicine and pediatric critical care. His career has been dedicated to improving the approach to pediatric care, disaster medicine, EMS and emergency medicine. In the News...
