Over the years, this program has done wonders for many of my clients suffering with GI problems. Persistent symptoms such as bloating, gas, pain, diarrhea and constipation have disappeared. The first step of this program consists of removal of the most common foods that trigger inflammatory response. A period of three months is recommended. Additional use of digestive enzymes and/or Digestron taken before meals improves stomach function. Digestron stimulates digestive enzyme production as well as balancing stomach acid to heal gastritis and ulcers. Short term use, (five days), of a highly potent probiotic followed by decreasing potencies will assist in repair. These friendly micro flora manufacture short- chain fatty acids, which have a protective effect on the colon wall. Microflora intake should be a lifelong goal. Providing support in the form of a medical food is important. The medical food is delivered as a nutritionally fortified, powdered drink mix to be taken twice daily before meals. It contains nutrients in greater concentration than are found in natural foods and should be used under the supervision of a trained nutrition consultant. No two people have exactly the same dietary needs or health problems and, therefore, a single program is not suitable for everyone. I sometimes modify this program depending upon your responses, positive or negative. My clients who follow this program while strictly adhering to the diet have found it very successful.
