DEFINING A LION JOHN BROUSSARD ATHLETIC DIRECTOR Lin eld Athletics is built on old school tradition and values. We take extreme value in the journey and not just the nal destination, and we o er our athletes a platform that through hard work and discipline allows them to take their talents to the highest of levels. It is our hope that the individual and team goals set for our athletes will transcend generations and lead to a lifetime of excellence. Character Building character is an integral and intentional part of Lin eld sports. In everything from their conversations with coaches and teammates to their behavior in team bonding events to their e ort in games themselves, our students are taught that they are de ned by the way in which they res- pond to each moment. Sports provide a lifelike platform, one that gives students an opportunity to exercise proper Christ-like attributes such as integrity, fairness, respect, and responsibility. So we encourage students to welcome adversity, understanding that the biggest opponent always lies within. Community The success of Lin eld Athletics can be attributed to our acceptance of Ecclesiastes 4:9: two is better than one. We acknowledge that in order to be victorious, we must value and depend on all stakeholders as they play their individual and crucial parts. Our athletes are taught what it means to believe and ght for something greater than themselves, and the lessons they learn in committing to a team by wearing a Lin eld uniform will equip them for success in later life as they face situations such as accoun- tability in a work setting, sacri ce in friendship, and commitment to family. Championships We understand that champions are not built overnight. It's impossible to instill the character, determination, and work ethic needed to excel in life in a short time. Champions are built not in weeks but through months and years in advance. That decree de nes Lin eld's K-12 athletic program as we partner with athletes as early as elementary school and provide them with programs and training regimes that are designed to push their talents to the limits. Year after year we graduate high school seniors who are prepared for the next level mentally, physically, and spiritually. Their excellence in college athletics and beyond con rms our belief as to why athletics should remain a conduit that drives our institutional mission. We prepare student athletes to shine as God designed; we prepare stu- dents athletes to embrace obstacles and overcome challenges, and we prepare student athletes to work collectively with others to achieve a common goal, we prepare student athletes to be champions! Become a Lion, Become a Champion Champions for Christ, Champions for Life
