Wineporter Packaging When wineries, wine clubs and specialty stores in British Columbia were given the green light to ship their product to wine lovers across Canada there was a need for shipping options meet an increased demand while reducing environmental impact and costs. One local company came up with a complete wine shipping solution that included the box, not just an insert or piece. Wineporter packaging was designed specifically for the unique needs of the wine industry. Available in several configurations that fit most standard wine bottles, this system also offers a mail back recycling program for Canadian consumers who do not have access to curbside or local drop-off foam recycling. Some of the benefits of using EPS packaging for wine shipments include: • EPS' inherent light weight reduces shipping and costs and the transportation footprint. The use of EPS packaging offsets millions of gallons of gas and emissions compared to heavier coated paperboard products. • Wine shipped in EPS significantly reduces supply chain waste and expense caused by broken and damaged bottles during shipment. • The majority of EPS wine shippers are made from recycled content, and some manufacturers provide up to 60% recycled content packaging without compromising EPS foam's renowned temperature stability and advanced shock and cushioning properties. • Molders can provide customized packaging to ship a variety of configurations and bottle sizes. Wineries choose EPS because it offers the best insulation factor of anything available. It guarantees the wine arrives intact and shielded from the elements to the greatest degree possible. For wineries that use traditional and natural processes to make their wine this is especially important because their product is not filtered or cold stabilized like typical commercially processed wine. As such, these wines are more temperature sensitive when it comes to storage. EPS absorbs the usual bumps and jolts of shipping, and breakage of wines shipped with EPS foam is extremely uncommon. It is largely for this reason - coupled with thermal protection - that wineries trust only EPS for shipping their wines. No matter what the vintage, EPS packaging assures the best protection for fine wine. 9 continued from pg 8
