The incredible versatility of EPS has made it an indispensable material for a variety of applications, many of which go unnoticed. In fact, most people don't realize that EPS has been contributing to their entertainment since the early days of cinema, but then again that is the idea. EPS is capable of being turned into stunning creations that, when in the right hands, are impossible to recognize as nothing more than carved and painted foam. Due to its light weight, malleability and durability EPS has become an integral part of creating the props and sets that allow us to lose ourselves in the magic of movies. The flexibility of EPS has long been appreciated and exploited by many set designers and location experts within Hollywood. EPS offers an easily achievable solution to creating (or upgrading) an environment, offering a reliable medium for producing impressive sets and props that have made it a staple in the industry even as digital manipulation and post- production effects become more ubiquitous in movie making. A skilled craftsman can carve intricate details with EPS that rival the finest marble sculptures. For example, the 2009 movie "Moon" was able to create a stunning lunar landscape that wowed audiences on a relatively modest budget using sculpted EPS, which allowed them to avoid using more expensive digital effects. For "Night at the Museum 2", EPS was able to create convincing replicas of famous historical artifacts, and in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" EPS was used on a massive scale to give Whoville its characteristic whimsical and otherworldly appearance. The value of the contributions EPS makes to our world in its many uses can't be overstated. It is a vital component of the entertainment that we enjoy when we want to turn the world off for a while. The stories that we enjoy and share every day are enriched with astonishing realism by EPS foam. EPS at the Movies 11
