7 Ways To Think About Your Work believe in your dreams. Do this every day, and it will start to feel like a reality just waiting to happen. 3. ALWAYS KEEP YOURSELF EMPOWERED Focus on goals. When you have problems—negative behavior from your coworkers, a boss, or a client— don’t allow them to become roadblocks. If you allow yourself to get sidetracked by daily negatives, you’ll either never get to your destination or it will slow it down. You need to come to the realization that people don’t make you upset, you make you upset. If we believe someone else’s behavior can prevent us from our goals, we become victims, and that is a choice. If you keep reminding yourself you are always in control of how you choose to react to any situation, and you can choose to react in a positive manner, you will feel your own power. If a person says or does something negative to you, you could let it ruin your day, plan revenge or a negative reaction, or you could choose to understand that what they gave out is really their stuff. They are full of negativity and have chosen to spew it out onto you. However, it belongs to them. Don’t let them give it to you. That is where your own personal power steps in. We think the person meant something that, in most cases, isn’t what they meant at all. Has this ever happened to you? We all do this. Let go and move on. 4. MAKE IT RIGHT FOR YOU AND OTHERS When you make any situation right for the other, you will always be making it right for yourself. Whatever type of energy you put out there, you will receive back. When you have clients who don’t have very much money and you could sell them similar products from a more expensive line and collect more commission, what would you do? If you think, “I win and don’t care if they lose,” you’ll sell the more expensive line, and collect your commission. But, if you show you care, and sell them the similar products from the less expensive line, making sure clients know you picked out a customized package just for them, then everyone wins. Clients will know you care, and they’ll be back. On the other hand, don’t make it a lose/lose situation either. Don’t let the client who drives up in her expensive car, stands there in her fur 10 successful business handbook www.ascpskincare.com and jewelry, and tell you she doesn’t have much money to buy anything. Don’t be intimidated into not recommending much for fear she will think you’re trying to up-sell products. You both lose. She won’t have what she needs to take care of her skin at home, and you won’t make any commission. Every client who comes to you should have a common goal with you. The first time your client comes to you, discuss whatever you see as current or potential problems for her skin, the treatment plan, and what you expect her to do at home to achieve the goal for her skin. After you both have arrived at that place, then your common goal becomes maintenance. This is a great win/win outcome for both of you.
