what is my path? a value assessment You know you made the right choice when you decided to pursue a massage therapy education, but now you're unclear how you want to use your newfound knowledge and skills. Should you set up shop and work for yourself or with a partner? Would you prefer working in a hospital or medical setting? Or would you like to be part of a spa environment, where someone else takes care of the overhead and marketing? The choices, and opportunities, are endless for professionals in this field. Here is a simple value assessment activity you can complete to see the path for which you might be most suited. Consider the various categories in the exercise, and assign a number value in the space provided. When finished, identify your most important values and consider them when you write your career plan. Also consider things like the character traits that make for a good entrepreneur (see box), as well as how you might visualize your ideal professional life. Consider these things as you create, and re-create, your path throughout your career. SPH Entrepreneurial Character Traits Experts have identified a variety of traits shared by most entrepreneurs.
