FOR THIRD SEaSOn aMID bEHInD-THE-SCEnES DRaMa B Y R o S Y C o R d e R o FX has ordered a third season of the Kurt Su er-created drama Mayans M.C., FX. Series co-creator and co-showrunner Elgin James has been si ng at the head of the table. "We're happy to con nue telling the story of Mayans M.C. with our partners at Fox 21 and excited that elgin James has earned the opportunity to become the series' showrunner," said Nick Grad, President, Original Programming, FX Entertainment. "Kurt Su er iden fied and chose Elgin as his partner on the show from the outset and elgin has been instrumental to the success of the series, leveraging his experience and crea ve vision to make Mayans M.C. with this incredible cast, crew and crea ve team." Su er was fired from FX, the network where he contributed as a writer on the Shield, and as creator of both Sons of anarchy and its spin-off Mayans M.C. Su er himself a ributes his firing in part to him being "an abrasive jerk." Su er announced at the Mayans M.C. season 2 premiere last year that he was planning to hand over the reins to James if the show con nued for a third season. At the me, James told EW that Su er "changed his life" and that he was ready to take over the show and serve as showrunner. "Yeah, i am. Being the boss, all that means is taking the chains off and le ng everybody do what they do," he said. "everyone on our crew, our writers' room and our cast is brilliant. our job is easy. Just turn the cameras on and let the chemistry happen." THE u.S. aRMy JuST pICkED ITS FIRST RObOTIC FIGHTInG vEHICLES B Y d av i d a x e The U.S. Army has tapped contractors to begin building a possible fleet of robo c figh ng vehicles. The Army's Combat Capabili es Development Command plans to award a contract to Qine Q North America to build four Robo c Combat Vehicle-Light prototypes and another contract to Textron to build four Robo c Combat Vehicle-Medium prototypes, all for ini al tests that will take place in late 2021. The Army also wants a bigger, more powerful Robo c Combat Vehicle-Heavy, but the service doesn't plan to begin tes ng the larger vehicle un l 2023.
