I n answer to numerous requests to create a branch that covers the waterfront on the eastern portion of Maryland, NE focused on its customer needs and did just that. Choosing historic Chestertown to fulfill that request, in late in 2018, NE opened the branch located at 6401 Church Hill Rd., Chestertown MD 21620 — Phones: (410) 231-7560 and (877) 710-9286. With NE occupying about 14,000 square feet of a 20,000-square-foot building, the location is outfitted with one loading dock, a huge yard and plenty of parking. The branch building was formerly a bowling alley built in the late 1950s which sits on 3.25 acres. The facility makes use of 10,000 square feet of retail space and the remaining square footage of space is for warehouse and lease space. The remodel of the location took about six months. On October 30, 2019, NE's newest location celebrated with customers at its Grand Opening. Instead of a ribbon-cutting, NE commemorated the event with a "pipe cutting" ceremony to honor its plumbing customers. The grand opening and pipe cutting ceremony was open to the public. Some 100 NE customers came by to partake in the festivities and the great food and prizes bestowed on guests. Local dignitaries, ambassadors from the Kent County Chamber of Commerce and other business leaders were in attendance, as were Chestertown Branch Manager Nick Cook, counter sales and warehouseman Josh Bedzuk, dozens of NE staff and executives, and more than a dozen vendors. Steve Cook, CEO of Northeastern Supply, said, "It's so great to be a part of the Chestertown community! We have a strong presence in Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and we are proud to now welcome Chestertown into our growing community group." Cook added, "Customers asked, and we listened and NE is now open for business in Chestertown, MD. The timing was right for this expansion and with it, we hope to make it easier for our faithful customers who live and/ or work in the area. And of course, we welcome new Chestertown customers to the NE family."
