WheelsOfGrace.com | Volume 10 Issue 3 | 7 Our mission is: To educate and entertain the motorcycle enthusiast, promote motorcycle riding through media with a motorcycle magazine that has a posi ve message and worthy to be read by all, free from content that is offensive while glorifying God. e d i t o r ' s S A D D L E EDITOR'S SADDLE "So foolish was I, and ignorant; I was as a beast before You." Psalm 73:22 Remember this is the confession of the man a er God's own heart; and in telling us his inner life, he writes, 'So foolish was I, and ignorant'. The word 'foolish', here, means more than signifies in ordinary language. David, in a former verse of the Psalm writes, 'I was envious at the foolish when I saw the prosperity of the wicked', which shows that the folly he intended had sin in it. He put himself down as being therefore foolish, and adds a word which is to give intensity to it; 'so foolish was I'. How foolish he could not tell. It was a sinful folly, a folly which was not to be excused by frailty, but to be condemned because of its perverseness and willful ignorance, for he had been envious of the present prosperity of the ungodly, forge ul of the dreadful and awai ng all such. And are we be er than David that we should call ourselves wise? Do we profess that we have a ained perfec on, or to have been so chastened that the rod has taken all our willfulness out of us? Ah! This was pride indeed! If David was foolish, how foolish should we be in our own esteem if we could but see ourselves! Look back, believer: Think of when you doubted God when He has been so faithful to you - think of your foolish outcry of 'Not so, my father', when He crossed His hands in afflic on to give you the largest blessing, think of the many mes when you have read His providences in the dark, misinterpreted His dispensa ons, and groaned out, 'All these things are against me', when they are all working together for your good! Think how o en you have chosen sin because of its pleasure, when indeed, that pleasure was a root of bi erness to you! Surely if we know our own heart we must plead guilty to the indictment of a sinful folly; and conscious of this 'foolishness' we must make David's consequent resolve our own, "Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel". Just like King David, we all have a past. Because of our past we all do things we do not want to do, even a er we commi ed our life to God. If our past was bad, it influences our present as the old habits try to resurface. If we had a good past, the follies we did not have want to surface because we never had them. In both cases the ba le between the Spirit and the Flesh is con nual. Here's the 'KEY': When you fail – because you will, we all do this side of Heaven – get back up and con nue on. John 10:10 says that the enemy comes to kill… In the Greek that word relates to butchering and sacrificing; that's what the enemy wants, however, the verse con nues to say that Christ came to give us life and more abundantly. In the Greek that means: so much that we can never use it all… an endless supply. The apostle Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 " Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new crea on has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" So, when the enemy comes at you remember to say to yourself: "SO FOOLISH WAS I… BUT NOW I AM IN CHRIST!" Honor God, love your woman, and fight the good fight.
