As companies try to increase profitability by concentrating on
their central business and by shedding peripheral functions—
often including IT-related tasks—colocation is a potential
beneficiary. Because they handle power, connectivity, cooling
and other functions, colocation providers give customers a
means of reducing capital costs as well as eliminating the
various hassles of running a data center.
