Is a Data
Center
REIT
for you?
Because interest rates remain near their historic lows and many
asset types seem overpriced, investors are anxiously searching
for yield to support pension/retirement and other funds. Given that
companies increasing rely on IT to run their business, and given
that they are increasingly outsourcing the requisite data center
space to provide those resources, some investors may wish to
get in on the data center real-estate market. Yet buying actual
real estate can be an intimidating prospect, even in less capital-
intensive sectors such as residential. Moreover, the lack of liquidity
makes short-term investment risky or impossible.
