2020 VISION 86 H O W Y O U C A N H E L P 2 0 2 0 V I S I O N To effectively compete in the 21st century college admissions race, students will need to bring more than their GPA, SAT scores, and community service hours; every college-bound student brings those. So in the 21st century, students will need educational opportunities that differentiate them from the masses; they need internships and international travel and uncommon coursework and real-life experiences. This is the new college-prep, and Linfield aims to provide it. High School is where college-prep counts the most, so our Development effort is primarily focused there. We aim to: 1. Establish a 4-year engineering program with co-curricular opportunities for students to learn in real-world context. 2. Establish a 4-year biomedical program with co-curricular opportunities for students to learn in real-world context. 3. Expand and provide community service opportunities for students to learn in real-world context. 4. Establish a Sports Broadcasting course with co-curricular opportunities for students to learn in real-world context. 5. Establish a Business Entrepreneurship course with co-curricular opportunities for students to learn in real-world context. 6. Establish international travel opportunities for students to learn in real-world context. Have you noticed a pattern yet? "Opportunities for students to learn in real-world context" is the thrust of this initiative. We believe our high school students will benefit from getting out of the classroom and into internships, onto airplanes, and around role-models and professionals. We want our students to see and serve the world they will eventually lead. At the Elementary and Middle School levels, our Development efforts will be focused on the following: 1. The integration of instructional technology in the classroom. 2. Advanced learning opportunities for high-performing students. 3. STEAM – Project Lead the Way curriculum. COLLEGE-PREP development
