October 18-20, 2016, Tianjin, China Call for ISTA European Technical and Events Committee Participants In order to increase the network and scope of ISTA Europe, the ISTA European Board of Directors is currently seeking qualified participants for two newly formed Technical and Events committees. These are professionals belonging to the industry, sharing our interest, in controlling costs, damage, and environmental issues regarding the distribution of packaged products. Serving on a committee offers several benefits on both a professional and personal level. These include increased mastery of your field, increased competence as a professional, increased recognition as an authority in your field of interest, and the satisfaction that comes from forming new friendships and making a contribution to an organization dedicated to advancing package design and testing. The Technical Committee will provide an opportunity for a European focused group to discuss the technical needs and opportunities within the region and influence ISTA's technical direction. The Events Committee will be instrumental in shaping ISTA's networking opportunities and educational event offerings throughout Europe with a primary focus on ISTA's European Symposium. If you are interested in joining either of these committees please contact the appropriate committee Chair listed below for more information: Follow Us On LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook! Ashling is a sophomore at the Michigan State University School of Packaging. Ashling will be assisting staff on many levels with her primary focus being lab certifications and test report processing. Ashling shared "I am excited to be starting my packaging career as an intern at ISTA. Packaging is the field for me because there is always a problem to be solved or an opportunity to be creative; that is what intrigues me about packaging as it is an advancing and ever changing field." Ashling was a member of Michigan State University's Pompon Team, her freshman year, where she competed against other collegiate teams. She also has a great love for her Irish heritage as she was crowned the Irish Queen by the Detroit United Irish Societies and is an accomplished Irish dancer. She won a world medal at the age of 13 in her first appearance at the Irish Dancing World Championships. Since that event, she has qualified for the worlds on six different occasions allowing her the opportunity to travel all over the United States, Canada and Europe to compete against dancers from every continent. We are very happy to have Ashling be part of the ISTA team. Ashling may be contacted at certification@ista.org.
