Abby's Magazine - Volume 4 Issue 1 | Page 57 Toxic chemicals can remain in the environment and in our bodies for years, sometimes decades, after we've stopped manufacturing and using them. The best we can do is limit and manage our risks – without driving ourselves crazy. Although many plastics can be among the most harmful creations of this modern era, this doesn't mean you have to stop touching and using all forms of plastic. We have to maintain some semblance of realism. Think of detoxification as a way of giving your body the equipment it needs to act effectively as its own shield against these incoming toxins, many of which we just cannot circumvent today. Detoxification helps fuel the engines that will literally clean up your body at a cellular level and support its natural operations. It also can physically reboot your body so you can begin to make those little but transformational shifts in your lifestyle that will help you live a richer, more energetic life. You can reverse the effects of aging and feel younger than ever before, no matter how old you are now. Adopting a "healthy" lifestyle for some people is a challenge. But by going through a specific detox program first, you set the tone and give yourself a much-needed launching pad. You can then live a healthy lifestyle effortlessly day in and day out without feeling deprived. Your body will continue on its path to optimum wellness. And you will rarely again get "caught off guard" when it comes to your health or you read a headline in the paper about tainted tap water in your community. We have become a society that no longer has to worry so much about things like plague, famine, and poor sanitation. We now suffer from the products and by-products of our own technological advancements that provoke poor health and chronic illness. In addition to ubiquitous chemical toxins, we have too much food, especially from unnatural, processed sources; we are oversanitized; and we owe our major health threats such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease largely to lifestyle choices. These lifestyle choices, encompassing diet, exercise, consumerism, and stress management, perpetuate a vicious cycle of blows to our health. It also leaves us looking older, feeling more tired, and unable to do the things we want to do in life. FACT: According to some reports, at death the human body decomposes more slowly today than just thirty years ago, thanks to all those preservatives and synthetic chemicals absorbed. FACT: A Vicious Cycle: The more fat you have, the more toxins you retain. The more toxins you retain, the harder it becomes to lose weight. A simple solution: Minimize your exposure to toxins in our environment and lifestyle, and remove toxins from our body through proper detoxification methods.
