THE DATA CENTER JOURNAL | 19 www.datacenterjournal.com By gregg shieLDs While plenty has been written about data centers' energy use and resulting pollution, data-management centers need to recognize and manage all of their operational environmental risks. These risks can result in costly cleanup, work safety issues and disruptions in operation if not identified and managed properly. Property managers and REITs with tenants managing data centers or significant Internet support and computer hardware should be aware of environmental risks associated with these operations.
