If you've elected to build your own data center rather than pursuing one (or more)
of the many outsourcing options that saturate the market today, you may be in for a
bumpy ride—particularly if it's your first data center construction project. With every
project standing a good chance of going over budget and/or past schedule, making
the right choices early in the process is critical to success. One of the main choices
is your general contractor: the organization that will manage the construction of your
data center. But selecting the right general contractor can be a project of its own,
given the range of options. Making a wise choice at this stage, however, can set the
tone for the rest of the process; here are a few things to consider.
