Abby's Magazine - July / August 2014 |Page 5 ASK Abby ASK Abby What is a good supplement for my 14 year old daughter who keeps getting sore throats & congestion? She takes a multivitamin, flax oil, probiotics, mega greens, oregano oil & vitamin C! - Sue Dear Sue, She appears to be on a great program. I would have her Vitamin D level checked. A blood level around 60 is a good target. Also, make sure she is hydrated, lessens stress and is sleeping well. At the first sign of sore throat use Collodial Silver spray till gone. Silver can also be used as a nasal wash. After she improves, double up on her probiotic. It is important to change probiotic strains. Sincerely, Abby Can you recommend anything for adult attention deficit disorder? - Sally Dear Sally, There are many reasons for ADD- like symptoms. Hydration is very important. DHA supplementation (1000-3000mg) per day (in divided doses with food) has helped many of my clients. Also getting 7-8 hours of quality sleep is key. If you snore, you should get screened for sleep apnea. If the case, "Oxypower" and "Snoreless" by Chi Enterprise may help. Check for food sensitivities (gluten and dairy) which may impact brain function. There are many other potential factors, risk factors such as heavy metals, adrenal fatigue, low thyroid, etc. Sincerely, Abby I have had UC (Ulcerative Colitis) as well as AS (Ankylosing Spondylitis) for the last 10 years. I went to the Mayo Clinic and was not impressed at all; same mind set at my local GI, nothing integrative. I want to beat this naturally, but am losing hope! The crazy thing is that my colonoscopies come back mild to moderate UC? A stool culture came back with Klebsiella. Any thought? I also wanted your thoughts on the whole TH-1 and TH-2 seesaw and how to balance it since AS and UC are on opposite ends of the immune seesaw. Would love any recommendations. Thank you! - Stephanie Dear Stephanie, Large concentrations of Klebsiella normally live in the colon but overgrowth of this bacteria along with other pathogens invade the mucous membranes leading to inflammatory bowel disease. Eradicating active Klebsiella overgrowth and re- establishing your gut flora is of prime importance. Colloridal Silver along with Saccharomyces boulardi will kill off potential pathogens. It is critical that you pursue a diet that eliminates trigger food (list available at Abby's) and take probiotics. You can augment with butyrate, essential for intestinal cell health. Also available are medical foods designed to lower inflammatory response. As far as the TH-1 and TH-2 balance, "Moducare" taken on an empty stomach upon wakening and bed time works wonders. For more information, contact me. Sincerely, Abby I have been ill since 1997. I finally found a doctor who diagnosed me with Lyme, Babesia and Bartonella and have been on antibiotics for several months along with anti-malarial drugs for Bartonella and Babesea, but had to stop as my liver enzymes sky-rocketed and I felt deathly ill. What can I try to help? - Liz Dear Liz, I recommend you start with Colloidal Silver with powerful antibacterial ability to kill the Borrelia (a bacterium transmitted by the bite of infected ticks) as well as Bartonella and Babesia. "Vector Health" by Herbs of Light assists greatly in the proliferation of lymphocytes and other immune support. "Systemic Health" also contains antibacterials acting synergistically to kill off these microbes. "Female Healthy Support" assists in detoxing and nourishing the liver, helps rebuild and rebalance energy as well as supporting the thymus, spleen and bone marrow to manufacture and build up white blood cells. Himalayan crystal salt capsules contain electrolytes which also help in killing of the pathogens and raising your energies. Sincerely, Abby Please let me know about lipomas. - Bonnie Dear Bonnie, A lipoma is a growth of fat cells in a thin fibrous capsule. The tendency to develop them is inherited. Also, minor injuries may cause lipomas to develop. A lipoma may arise from excessive growth of fat cells due to internal unreleased toxins. A detoxification program is recommended accompanied by liver support. "Liver Chi" by Chi Enterprise is superb. Hydration is essential.
